Choir Competition

To mark and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir has launched The 1st Commonwealth Community Choir Competition

All community choirs in any of the 54 countries of The Commonwealth are eligible to enter The 1st Commonwealth Community Choir Competition.

First stage of the competition is to apply for entry.  Applications can be made from 1st August 2011 until 30 April 2012.

Entries to The 1st Commonwealth Community Choir Competition can be submitted from  30 April 2012 up to and including 31 August 2012.

First prize: a recording with The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra.

Second prize: a gala performance with The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra.

The winners of The 1st Commonwealth Community Choir Competition will be announced on
Monday 1 October 2012.

As part of the building a lasting legacy of the Diamond Jubilee in 2012 of Her Majesty The Queen, Head of The Commonwealth, The Commonwealth Community Choir Competition will become an annual event.

Stop press - due to the large volume of applications from all around The Commonwealth, the deadlines have been extended so that as many choirs as possible can be involved in the competition.
