The Commonwealth Orchestra has been established to create professional performance opportunities for the graduates and alumni of the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra, who decide that they would like to pursue a career as a professional musician.
The Commonwealth Orchestra has the same trans-Commonwealth and trans-racial make-up as the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir and it shares the same motto:
The Commonwealth Orchestra is providing professional platforms and recording projects throughout all 54 countries of the Commonwealth.

Entrance by audition
The next auditions for The Commonwealth Orchestra will be held in London on 16 Janauray 2013 and in Cambridge on 11 & 25 January and 1 February 2013.
To apply to audition for The Commonwealth Orchestra, applicants are invited to email their name, nationality, full contact details, instrument and the full contact details of two referees on the contact form on this website.
There is no application or audtion fee.
Members of The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir have all their expenses, in respect of their particpation in The Commonwealth Youth Orchestra & Choir performances, re-imbursed.
Members of The Commonwealth Orchestra are paid professional fees in respect of their participation in The Commonwealth Orchestra performances.
